In 2014 I registered to run my very first city2surf - the longest I had ever run. 5 Days before the event I played my usual weekly game of indoor netball. As I was coming off the court the team due to play next were short so asked me to fill in until their player turned up. 3 Minutes into the game I went for a rebound and landed awkwardly and dislocated my knee, to say I was devastated was an understatement, 5 months of early mornings, run club and training gone to waste. I decided I didn't want to throw in the towel, not with all the hard work I'd put in, so I still showed up on race day in a brace, and I completed the race ... much slower than I had hoped, however I finished the 14km and was able to raise over $1200 for the Salvation Army with alot of friends and families generous donations.
13th August 2017 will my 4th year running in the city to surf with the Salvo Striders. This year I have been selected as one of 50 Charity Superstars place runners for the Salvation Army. This means I have a special start time and bib, but more importantly that I pledge to raise $2000 for my charity. Please help me to complete in the race this year by donating to the Salvation Army.
