Welcome to Team Harley for The Edgar Stephen Ward and Heart Centre for Children 💙
Last year was our 1st year ever doing the City2Surf in memory of our son Harley, we raised over $45,000 for The Heart Centre for Children with all proceeds going to toward a brand new portable ECHO machine.
The Edgar Stephen Ward is the cardiac ward at The Children's Hospital Westmead. All babies who have heart surgery will stay on this ward till they are ready to go home or in some cases they are to sick to be at home and need to be in hospital long term.
Having a very sick child can be so frightening and having the support of the ward and all the staff that look after these sick babies makes such a big difference.
This is a cause so close to our hearts along with every other parent of a child born with Congenital Heart Disease. Please show your support by joining our team or donating to this great cause anything over $2 is tax deductible :-)
20/12/2014 - 30/04/2016

There are so many heart conditions that babies are born with everyday and this is just one of them.
Harley was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome on 20/12/14.
Harley basically had half a heart his left side never developed for all the babies born with this heart condition immediate Open Heart surgery is required in the first few days of being born.
Harley underwent his 1st open heart surgery at 3 days old, then again at 4 mths old. Harley was born a fighter and that he did!!
Like so many other babies and children do today he fought with every beat of his heart.
Harley suffered a cardiac arrest on 15th October 2015 at 10mths old which his little heart never recovered from, the cardiac arrests that he received on October 15th also caused severe brain damage which meant Harley had to relearn EVERYTHING like drinking, eating, movement of his limbs and more. The last 6months of Harley's life was spent mostly in hospital with endless procedures and medications being put into and happening to his little body.
Harley is the strongest little boy you could ever meet.
The Heart Centre for Children and the ESW - Edgar Stephen Ward were our 2nd family/home each person that met Harley was touched in someway by our little superhero ❤
Harley left this world with his dad, older brother and sister by his side.
I got to spend the last few hours with him bathing him, cuddling him and saying my goodbyes to him in his room on the ward.
The time we spent with him following his passing was beautiful and we would not have been able to have that with him without the hospital and nursing staff we got to know. We are so thankful for everything that the ward did for us as a family and continue to do for all other families living with a child with CHD.
THANK YOU EDGAR STEPHEN!!
Lets see how far we go this year for CHD!
