Welcome to Team Bianca! We are thrilled to have you on board!

Please help us help The Children’s Hospital at Westmead by giving whatever you can. Click the 'Give Now' button and show your support.

Over the past three years Team Bianca has raised over $170,000 to help young people with rare diseases. During 2015-2016 $90,000 was raised for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, funding research into rare heart diseases and blood disorders like HLH.

In 2014, we also raised over $78,000 for the Steve Waugh Foundation to provide grants to those aged 0-22 who are living with rare diseases.

For the fourth consecutive year, we are running the City2Surf in memory of Bianca Caltabiano, a wonderful daughter, sister and friend, who passed away in October 2013 at the age of 18.

Close to 2 million Australians will have a rare disease at some stage during their lives, of which 400,000 will be children.

Bianca was diagnosed with haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare cancer-like blood disorder of the immune system. HLH primarily affects children but is often diagnosed in teenagers, adolescents and adults. Some cases are genetic but HLH may also be triggered by viral infections such as glandular fever (EBV virus), vaccinations or other underlying autoimmune disorders and cancers. Bianca had undergone treatment which involved blood transfusions, steroids, immunosuppressants and chemotherapy. Sadly due to pneumonia, kidney and respiratory failure, our beloved Bianca passed away.

We are calling on friends, family and businesses to sponsor our team to further build upon the hospital’s current research efforts. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and all money raised will assist in funding vital research projects into rare diseases conducted by the Hospital so that young lives like Bianca’s are not lost.

For every $25 you donate to Team Bianca, you will receive an entry into the Team Bianca Charity Prize Draw to win great prizes from our sponsors. For more chances to win, once you have donated go to http://bit.ly/2pIcfmv where you can support our sponsors and receive bonus entries into the Prize Draw.

We thank you all for your generosity and support. Let’s continue to do Bianca proud.
