My Story

This year, I’ll be participating in the City2Surf in the memory of my dear friend Kate. In May 2007, Kate was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a very aggressive cancer that often strikes children and young people, and of which little is known, relative to other types of cancer. Chemotherapy did not slow down the spread of the disease, and no clinical drug trials were available at that time. Kate passed away only 5 months later – she was an adored wife and mother of 2 daughters (2 ½ years old and 9 months old), and the most generous, fun and engaging friend you could ask for.

The Rainbows for Kate Foundation seeks to raise funds for research into sarcoma cancers, and to bring hope, time and more treatment options to those diagnised with sarcoma cancer. You can read more about the Foundation and their achievements here: www.rainbowsforkate.com.au

Blob

Rainbows for Kate was established in October 2007 in memory of Kate Boyson, who passed away just 5 months after being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma. OUR AIM is to raise funds to enable critical research into Sarcoma cancers, a group of cancers found in the connective tissues of the body that affect mostly children and young people. OUR HOPE is that this research we will give those people affected by Sarcoma cancers access to wider, more effective treatment options.
